BMW 116i 136ps To 218PS

The 2012 BMW 116i Turbo is an amazing car.As an F21 model family from BMW this 1.6 litre engine is a turbocharged, double overhead camshaft, 4 cylinder that produces 134 bhp (136 PS/100 kW) of power at 4350 rpm, and maximum torque of 220 N·m (162 lb·ft/22.4 kgm) at 1350 rpm. However the truth on the dyno is different.

The engine delivers its power through to the wheels via a 6 speed manual ‘box.Claimed kerb weight is 1360 kg.The BMW 116i is claimed to attain a maximum speed of 210 km/h, or 130 mph, quoted fuel consumption is 7.1/4.6/5.5 l/100km urban/extra-urban/combined, and carbon dioxide emissions are 129.0 g/km.Our initial measurement during the development of this software remap showed that the car, not only produces more power then advertised but it the powerband is also greater and smoother then anyone could expect.

As you will see on the following diagram the initial power was 147ps instead of 136ps and the torque was 264nm instead of 220nm.After our stage one remap on the Bosch MEVD17.7.x engine management system the power levels were far greater then any BMW owner could imagine.

So… 218PS and 358NM was the final gain after 4 runs on our awd mustang dynamometer running with 100 octane fuel and original exhaust and intake filter. Here are some more photos of the software development.
